A career in education and music education

Jo Asgeir Lie (b. 1972) is a musician, educator and principal of the Ole Bull Academy.

Jo Asgeir also has a also has an extensive portfolio as a composer and arranger, and has written music for a number of different ensembles and projects.


From Voss to Ål with music as a companion

Jo Asgeir was born and raised in Voss, but has lived in Ål in Hallingdal since 1999. He was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, with accordion as his main instrument.

His fields include classical music, folk music, and pedagogy in addition to studies in composition and music administration.

He completed his master's degree in folk music in 1998 with accordionist Oddvar Nygaard as his main subject.

Musician, composer and educator

Jo Asgeir has an extensive career as a musician, composer, educator and cultural leader. He is currently the principal and first assistant professor at the Ole Bull Academy in Voss. He has also been the principal of the cultural school in Ål in Hallingdal for over 10 years.

As a performer, he has collaborated with a wide range of musicians in various musical genres, and has participated in over 40 studio recordings
